Biography




 

Meinrad Litterst was born in 1961 in Offenburg in his native Germany.

At the age of 11 he took up the guitar and studied classical guitar for four years at the ėStaedtische Musikschule ė in Offenburg.

At the age of sixteen he joined a friends rock covers band. Next to rock music he developed an interest in jazz music and studied jazz guitar for three years with J.-P. Herzog at his local music school in Offenburg.

After playing just for fun in jazz and covers bands for several years he gave up his daytime job and enrolled at the ėMunich Guitar Instituteî in Munich / Germany studying contemporary guitar.

After graduation he started teaching guitar privately, played in covers bands and saved up some money to continue his studies.

Finally in 1991 he moved to Los Angeles and studied at the ėGuitar Institute of Technologyî in Hollywood where he studied with Scott Henderson, Ron Eschete, Carl Schroeder and many more. Next to his full time studies he studied privately with Ted Greene.

In Los Angeles he met the drummer Bernd Koestler, bass player Dave Putson and they founded the rock and soul band ėSo Whatî.

They relocated to the UK  toured all over the country and started to record their own songs.

Meinrad has made his home in South London being a busy guitar instructor and recording - session musician.

He has played live on a local radio station and you can even catch him playing his jazz guitar in coffee bars in the London area.

His first guitar tuition book is soon to be published.

Further he is involved in several teaching projects in Germany.

One of his students recently competed in the finals for the ėBest Young Musician Awardî in  Kent.
